slurpie60 aka Gerrit Boeschoten
« on: June 30, 2010, 11:32:15 AM »
I just received a Kohlert C clarinet from slurpie60 that was advertised as having no cracks. It's a lovely horn and will with an overhaul (as he described) end up as an absolute beaty. Unfortunately (like so many of its age) has a terrible crack in the (really short) barrel. I wrote to him and he replied immediately with this;

Hello there,
Sorry to hear that I didn't do my homework - must have overseen it...
I can look for another barrel (need measures for that, and our repairman might need to adjust it)
or refund you part of the money.
You can let me know.

Greetings & sorry for the complications... Gerrit Boeschoten

I told him that a part refund would be great. I also have a barrel from the Wurlitzer that Bass sent me some time ago that fits pretty well, even a little loosely...also I'm going to look into getting one of my Eb barrels from Bass reamed out to make it fit, then I will have a barrel that fits and takes a PT. It really is a tiny barrel...and Bass's Ebs seem to be of about the right size. Wish me luck, and good on slurpie60 (Gerrit Boeschoten) for coming through.

Thanks George and Phillipos! It's in need of complete pad replacement, but I got a few good notes from it. It will sound lovely when it's overhauled and the keywork feels amazingly well balanced!

Hey merlin
I approve of your listing this guy
I've also bought a little Swiss made C from this guy off German ebay. He's Swiss and his English is great. He's always looking for stuff, too. So he may come up with good value instruments. And Swiss international postage is the cheapest I have come across.

Niko i too have noticed that the postage is quite good price wise from those areas.  And these days its great to see that most of world has that common alibity of speaking english, it just makes international transactions that little bit easier.

Merlin i ok forward to heaing your litte success story on a video/audio clip when your clarinet is good to go! :grin:
