1914 Sherman & Clay (San Francisco) Clarinet Catalogue
« on: March 05, 2011, 12:36:33 AM »
Guys --- I recently purchased these pages from eBay, primarily so we could post the pictures and pages onto the GTC site.  Enjoy - they are COOL to look at!

Kalakos --- you, in particular will enjoy this -- it's a SHERMAN & CLAY Catalogue, from 1914 !!!

Bass -- perhaps we can load the pics onto the Gallery, if you think this is ok -- if so, I will have the pages "flattened" out and obtain high resolution pics/scans done and post them to add to the gallery ..... Mporlos

That is a wonderful artifact and worthy of being preserved.  I think I noticed that the HP were the regular numbers, like 13, for example, while the same key configuration in LP had the same number with a 1/2, like 13 1/2.  Very interesting!
Anyway, some of you may remember that I'm a San Franciscan and used to shop at Sherman Clay in SF when I was growing up.  About a year ago a Buffet Bb came up on ebay, and not only was it my personal favorite key configuration, but, it was marked imported for Sherman Clay, San Francisco, and its serial number put it in 1906, the year of our San Francisco great earthquake.  So I was lucky enough to win it, and it turned out great.  My favorite Buffet Bb that I had before this one was also made in 1906 and played fantastic, but this one was equally good.  Seeing a catalog from around the same time is really neat for me.  Thanks Mporle!!!

Thanks Nikos! This is a great catalogue. I love the selling of HP and LP side by side. I love the "furnishings" too!

Interesting how price is the same for low and high pitch on the alberts and how much more the price is on all the Boehms, substantially

glad you guys like this --- when I saw it (it had a Buy Now), I couldn't resist it --- I will have high resolution scanning of the pages done later today. I will let you guys know how it turns out - if it's good, I will gladly email a copy of the images to anyone who wants them. Just let me know through a PM. Alternatively, I will see if they can be printed at a good copy/print shop from a high resolution scanner/printer ..... will let you know .... Mporlos

once you upload the high res images then anyone can download them!  i can convert them to PDFs and upload them to your file manager so you can include a PDF link as well.
