help with turkish lyrics folksong
« on: June 10, 2013, 05:05:33 PM »
Hello if anyone knows Turkish please help me with the lyrics. The famous Kayseri folk song Gesi Baglari or Kesi Baglari has the refrain which I have seen in two forms:

Atma anam atma şu dağların ardına
Kimseler yanmasın anam yansın derdime
(found on Turkish lyrics site)

Atma anam atma şu dağların ardına
Kimseler de yanmasınler anam yanasın derdime
(heard on old 78)

Most of the Turkish folk songs I can translate with the help of the turkish dictionary and verb conjugator found online. But this must be some kind of idiom or saying I don't know. "Mother don't throw behind? these mountains"??? what does this mean? and in the next part someone is burning but again i dont understand the meaning of these words. and what is the difference between the two versions of the verse. thank you.

Gesi Bağları
Gesi bağlarında dolanıyorum,
Yitirdim yarimi,
Aman aranıyorum.

Yitirdim yarimi,
Aman aranıyorum,
Bir tek selamına güveniyorum.

Gel otur yanıma,
Hallarımı söyleyeyim.
Derdimden anlamaz,
Ben o yari neyleyim...

Derdimden anlamaz,
Ben o yari neyleyim.

Gesi bağlarında üç top gülüm var.
Hey Allah'tan korkmaz,
Sana bana ölüm var.

Hey Allah'tan korkmaz,
Sana bana ölüm var,
Ölüm varsa bu dünyada zülum var.

Atma garip anam beni dağlar ardına,
Kimseler yanmasın, anam yansın derdime.
Atma garip anam beni dağlar ardına,
Kimseler yanmasın, anam yansın derdime.

Gesi Vineyards
i'm wandering in Gesi Vineyards,
I've lost my lover,
Oh i seek.
I've lost my lover,
Oh i seek.
I trust in your only one greeting
Come and sit with me
I tell my affairs,
She doesn't take my point,
What's the use of that lover?

I've three bunches of rose in Gesi Vineyards
Hey beware of God
There is death for you and me
Hey beware of God
There is death for you and me
If there is death, in this world there is cruelty
Don't leave me beyond mountains my poor mother.
Nobody but
My mother cries for my pain..
